9. Translation of colophon | In this way, one night I dreamed of a monk who [told me] that the praise section of the longevity ritual entitled Tshe dbang bya ri ma, the Longevity Sādhanā of Tshe dbang [rig ’dzin] at Bya ri”, should be adapted to the offering of flesh, blood, bodily warmth and breath. Having had this vision, if I, the one named Nyi [ma], have made made any errors or committed any transgressions, I beg to be excused; and if there is any virtue, then may the doctrine of the lama without equal (mNyam med Shes rab rgyal mtshan) flourish. Mu tsug mar ro. May all be auspicious. |
10. Remarks | Nyi ma bstan’dzin (1813-1870?), the author of this text, was the 23rd abbot of sMan ri monastery; the monastery was established by its first abbot, mNyam med shes rab rgyal mtshan (1356-1415) in 1405 in West-Central Tibet. |
