4. A brief summary of the item’s contents | Amulet in the form of a wheel of protection.
This square piece of paper is drawn with the yantra diagram of the tantra for the self-purification of the six classes of beings. It was folded into four squares so as to be carried as a protective amulet. The yantra diagram is composed of two concentric octagons following the lotus type and an outer range of flames, separated from each other by double black lines. The inner octagon is centred on the syllables ā, written in large dbu can script. The outer one consists of eight trilobed lotus petals, on which is inscribed the mantra du yaṃ tri raṃ pir mang rnri khang tha bruṃ ā ā shag sa le seng ye swa hā. Outside burn flames designed like scrollwork, which represent wisdom and protect from negative forces. |
