9. Translation of colophon In this way, the offering collection of sadhana for Bon doctrine protector btsan deity is completed, may good fortune!

 

This short offering petition ritual for the King of btsan deity is completed by the second Buddha of the age sPyang tshang rin chen rgyal mtshan at the thang shing gling monastery. May good auspicious!

10. Remarks sPyang tshang rin chen rgyal mtshan (14 C) who was the greatest master of that sPyang tradition as a follower of sPyang ’phags mu la drung mu after the 12th century in eastern Tibet, the later was one of the famous treasure revelator in the Frontier treasure tradition (Khams gter) on the Bon history. Until to now, all the monasteries from this linage, mainly located in ’Brug chu and ’Phan chu, and Zung chu areas in eastern region of Tibet. Rin chen rgyal mtshan was the 14th generation inheritor of the sPyang clan in the 7th  year of Tibetan rab byung (around the 14th century), according a colophon of a sadhana text of a bse rgyal ba, which was organized with tantric ideology by spyang sprul nam mkhan rgtal mtshan (1770-1832, who established sPyang ritual tradition of Yungdrung Bon) in the collection of his works, he notes that the original short ritual text was produced by sPyang sprul rin chen rgyal mtshan according to his meditation experiences. In addition, as a lineage of the Bon Great Perfection in the eastern Tibet (mDo smad) region, sPyang tradition belongs to the northern lineage (byang brgyud).

 

thnag shing (zhing) is a name of village where sPyang tshang rin chen rgyal mtshan was born, when he was still alive, he moved all the small temples from nearby places to Thang shing, after which, organized a new big monastery called Thang shing gling, now named rgur ba spyang tshang or rgur skyang monastery, which is the foundation monastery (ma dgon) of all the sPyang monastery systems (bu dgon) at that area.  As an inheritor of sPyang clan and the master of the monastery is already came to his 34th generation today.

 

As a sources for the mountain deity or the clan protector the royal family in land of gLo, as well as the protector deity of the land of gLo, here a short offering ritual text can see as bellow:

bhyo: sngon tshe srid pa ’chyags pa’i dus/ zhang zhung bon gyi…rtan pa la/ gshen rab ston pa’i spyan sngar ru/ srid pa’i lha dgu zhes kyang bya/ skye bu srog gi bdag por bsol/ sngon gyis zhal zhes ma byed par/ spyir gyi yul ’khor srung pa dang/ sgos su glo bo chos rgyal gyis/ rigs rgyud chags pa’i rje rigs rnams/ sku bsod dbyar mtsho ltar rgyas la/ tshe ring bsod nams ’bad med du/ sgrub pa’i ’phrin las mdzad du gsol/ glo ’o…yi/ cha….med… nas/ bde skyid dpal la spyod pa dang/ snyan grags sa steng khyab pa’i ’phrin/ …. g.yung drung bla ma rnams…. Translation:

Bhyo! At the beginning, when the world was formed, the doctrine of Zhangzhung tradition… in the presence of Buddha gShen rab, all the worldly deities were consecrated as protectors of people’s lives, as was once promised, to protect all the countries, and especially to the royal family linage of the Dharma king in the land of gLo, may their good fortune grow like the lake in summer, longevity and the fulfilment of all wishes…may they enjoy the glory of happiness and famous all over the world…the masters of Yungdrung… by the power of the doctrine protector deity A bse, may the glory and fame of the land of gLo, is famous all over the world. May it be auspicious! The part of prayer for the land of gLo of the petition offering ritual for the protector king of A bse is over.
